2008 Para Educator of the Year - Josie Guillen
Ms. Guillen been working as a para-professional educator in the Fowler School District for over nine years and began at Tuscano and Sun Canyon this past school year as our English Language Learner Tester.  She was recently recognized at the National Association of Bilingual Educators' (NABE) Convention in Tampa, Florida where she was named the national "Para Educator of the Year."  She loves being in the school setting and working with children.  She considers herself a second language learner and feels this helps her relate to the students she works with even more.  She is able to emphasize to her students the importance of working hard to achieve their goals and the need for a strong education.  She is currently taking classes toward her Associated Arts in Elementary Education Degree at South Mountain Community College and plans to transfer to Arizona State University's Teacher Education Program in Spring 2009.  She hopes to one day teach in a first or second grade classroom.  What an honor to have a nationally recognized staff member at Tuscano!
